Jack Cook (real name Jack Cugnin - Cook is the family performing name) is a third-generation circus performer. His grandfather George Cugnin created and patented the original "Funny Ford" in 1926. The car and accompanying act is iconic among circus performers and has often been replicated by many over the last 90 years. The "Funny Ford" follows the premise of a hobo clown engaged in a variety of antics with his ramshackle Model T Ford which has an apparent life of its own. A driver hidden behind the back seat drives the car. The car shoots water, fire, and performs other stunts. The act was continued by succeeding generations of the family including Merle Cugnin Cook (donor's father) who performed with a variety of circuses including the King Bros. Circus and Cristiani Bros. Circus in the 1940s and 1950s. By 1967 Jack Cugnin Cook has performed with the car but eventually replaced it with another vehicle.
