Interview with Derrick Rosaire Sr. conducted by Richard Flint on April 18, 1973 at Amherst, Massachusetts. 

Derrick Rosaire Sr. (1916-2005) a native of Yorkshire, England was born into a circus family that specialized in training lions, tigers, chimpanzees, dogs, and bears. Rosaire appeared extensively on various European circuses in Spain, France, Italy, and Switzerland including Circus Knie and Circus Prince. In 1960 he performed with the Moscow State circus. Rosaire first came to the United States in 1960 to perform with “Tony the Wonder Horse” on the Ed Sullivan Show. Later that year he embarked on a successful tour of North America performing in a variety of circuses and theaters throughout United States and Canada.
