Staley worked in the cook house as a steward in the dining tent for a number of circuses including Barnum & Bailey Circus, Russel Bros. Circus, Clyde Beatty Circus, and Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus from 1917 through mid 1960s.
