An interview OF Ann Stephenson conducted by Scott O’Donnell on July 24, 2014. Stephenson was raised in a circus family. Her parents, Swede and Mabel Johnson both worked in the circus. in 1969 Stephenson joined the newly created Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1969. Shortly after she met and married Frank Stephenson who was a member of the Stephenson Dogs, a multigenerational Irish dog act. Ann Stephenson joined the act and worked alongside her husband for many years performing on a variety of shows including the Hanneford Circus and Carden circus. The family also performed at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circuses Circus World in Haines City, Florida.
