An interview with Steve Smith conducted by Scott O’Donnell on June 23, 2023. Smith is an inductee of the International Clown Hall of Fame. He graduated from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College in 1971 and toured with the Ringling show as a clown for six years. Smith later served as Director of Clown College in the 1980s and 1990s and was also the director of the 123rd edition of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1993. Smith also worked on the Big Apple Circus, the Circus Arts Conservatory in Sarasota, Florida, and at the Circus Center in San Francisco, California.
